Matt Gochnauer was born and raised in Charleston, SC. He spent many summers on Kiawah with his father Tim, learning the art of building a home. Matt earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from The Citadel. Upon graduation, Matt worked as a design engineer at a Charleston structural engineering firm. From there, he spent several years working as a project manager for a premier custom builder in Charleston. Matt's background in both design and management has provided him with a skill set required for providing technical input and implementing solutions establishing productive, working relationships with both architects and homeowners alike.
Tim Gochnauer was born and raised near Lancaster, PA. In 1980, he moved to Johns Island, as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Tim was involved in the development and construction of one of the first Habitat for Humanity communities in the Southeast. After his yearlong commitment ended, he began framing custom homes on the new and rapidly developing Kiawah and Seabrook Islands. Thirty-five years later, Tim's distinguished reputation remains constant. With Tim's hands-on construction experience, each Gochnauer project is handcrafted with a personal touch that only Gochnauer Construction can provide.
The Gochnauers believe that building a home is more than simply a job. It is an opportunity to forge lasting relationships that will serve the needs of clients for years to come.
